Procrastinator Series: Meeting LEED v4.1 Acoustical Requirements for Schools (CE)
December 14

Acoustical requirements are a relatively new concept to the LEED program and acoustics can sometimes be a mystery to the typical built environment designer. It is the intention of the course to de-mystify some of those acoustical concepts and empower the designer with knowledge to keep moving forward. LEED v4 2019 requires that schools meet certain acoustical prerequisites and offers 1 to 2 points of optional credit which relate directly to the acoustical character of the school. This course will present the basic acoustic principles and practices for meeting both the prerequisite and optional credit requirements and will provide the attendee with a fundamental understanding of the extent to which those requirements might impact the overall project design. Furthermore, such knowledge will enable the architect or interior designer to decide on the appropriateness of the optional credit for a particular school project early on in the design phase when beginning to count LEED credits.
