Below are images from the winning projects from this year's AIA Northern Virginia Design Awards. Winners in seven categories were announced at the Design Awards Gala on June 9th. This year's winners were selected by a jury from Princeton, NJ including Stanley Allen, AIA; Alan Chimacoff, AIA; Michael Farewell, FAIA; Michael Graves, FAIA; and Juliet Richardson, AIA.

Noon-1:30p, at Virginia Tech's Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center, 1001 Prince Street, Alexandria. Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Sustainability are intertwined ideas that provide new possibilities for improving architecture. July 20 - Entry Forms Due for VSAIA Design Awards
Entry forms are due by Friday, July 20 at 5:00p. The project folders are due on August 17. For more information, please visit the VSAIA Website.
July 26 - Committee on the Environment Planning Meeting
At the Chapter House, 205 S Patrick Street, Alexandria. Join members of COTE at this planning meeting to discuss topics for upcoming sustainability-related programs and green tours. As part of this meeting, Marlene Shade, AIA, project manager with PSA-Dewberry and AIA Northern Virginia President, will present a 10-minute overview of Greening Your Company, a Case Study. Topic suggestions may also be sent by e-mail to COTE chair, Mary-Ellen Pfiester, at mepfiester@RTKL.com. July 27 - Firm Management Seminar

August 3 - Deadline for 2008 Directory Forms
Forms were mailed to each firm on June 25. Only one member from each firm needs to fill out the form, which should be returned to Dawson Publications, not the Chapter House.
