Small Firm Roundtable The AIA Northern Virginia Small Firms Roundtable meets regularly to share information and discuss topics of interest to small firms. Meeting information is sent to members via email. For additional information, contact Matthew Guenther, AIA at mguenther@gc-a.com.
Each year the AIA Northern Virginia Young Architects Forum organizes seminars + study sessions for those preparing to take the Architect Registration Exam (ARE). The seminars offer the opportunity to learn from a professional in each discipline and use that knowledge in preparation for the ARE. In addition, study groups meet regularly to share resources and discuss the seminar material.
The schedule of seminars is as follows:
February 24 - Roundtable + Software Review March 27 - Construction Documents + Services: Legal rescheduled from March 20 April 3 - Construction Documents + Services: Practical April 10 - Building Design + Construction April 16-18 - Structural Systems May 1 - Building Systems I: Electrical + Plumbing Systems May 15 - Building Systems II: Mechanical Systems June 5 - Programming Planning + Practice June 19 - Site Planning + Design July 10 - Schematic Design July 21 - Now What? From Associate to AIA
All seminars except structural systems will be Saturday mornings. Cost is $40 for members, $50 for non-members per seminar. Cost includes study groups, mock exams and refreshments. Registration is required one week prior to each seminar; the registration is available for download here.
