Our local chapter offers seminars like our monthly lunch series and publishes numerous local CES opportunities in our newsletter, which is mailed to all members. National AIA offers programs and serves as a clearinghouse for CES opportunities. Their web site, at http://www.aia.org/ces_default, provides detailed information about continuing education programs. This is an easy way to find educational activities offered by CES registered providers.
The site also provides information about online and distance education opportunities.
Virginia Society AIA presents their Architecture Exchange East every fall and other continuing education sessions during the year in various locations throughout the state. NCARB's Professional Development Program offers a self study monograph series, which allows architects to learn at their own pace and earn learning units, including HSW hours. The series of monographs addresses a wide range of health, safety, and welfare topics related to new and evolving aspects of architectural technology, technical systems, and regulation. You do not have to take time away from your busy schedule to attend expensive programs to meet your CES requirement. You can do one or two one-hour continuing education activities a month and meet your annual requirement easily.
