ARE Prep
Each year the AIA Northern Virginia Young Architects Forum organizes seminars + study sessions for those preparing to take the Architect Registration Exam (ARE). The seminars offer the opportunity to learn from a professional in each discipline and use that knowledge in preparation for the ARE. All seminars except the ARE Roundtable, Now What? and Structural Systems will be Saturday mornings. Cost is $35 for members, $50 for non-members per seminar. Cost includes breakfast, lunch and study materials. Registration is required one week prior to each seminar; please download and complete the registration form here and fax, scan and email, or mail it back to the Chapter House. Online payments can be made here for members and non-members using Paypal. A Paypal account is NOT required to pay for the seminars, only a credit card.
This spring, YAF is expanding upon its series of supplemental courses Wednesday nights with two new courses. Supplemental courses are $20 for members, $25 for non-members. The schedule of these courses is:

Additionally, AIA Northern Virginia welcomes back David Thaddeus, AIA for a three-day intensive seminar covering Structural Systems, April 13-15, 2012. The registration form is available for download here and payments can be made through PayPal here. Only AIA Northern Virginia members are eligible to register until February 26; all other applications will be discarded prior to that date. To obtain the AIA member discount, you must include your AIA number on the registration form.
ARE study materials by Kaplan Educational Resources.
Kaplan's ARE materials, including study guides, question and answer books, practice vignettes, test bank CDs, and flash cards, are available to be checked out free of charge from the Chapter House by Chapter members. The library also includes ArchiFlash cards and a copy of Solutions: Understanding the Graphic Divisions of the Architects Exam by Norman Dorf.
